The Year 3 Fairy Tale Story visit to the Preps

On Thursday, we walked to Molesworth Campus to visit the Preps to read our Fractured Fairy Tales. Our class read to Prep E and Prep F. Here is a bit about each of our experiences…

I read my fractured fairy tale to two Preps. It was called Golidlocks and the three bears (but a bit different). It is like Goldilocks and the three bears, but shorter and a bit different. It was fun and felt really short.

I read my fairy tale to three Preps and my fairy tale’s name is The Three Bad Pigs. In my fractured fairy tale, it’s not the wolf’s fault the pigs got eaten. They went to the house of the big bag wolf and they annoyed him! It was exciting to read my story to the Preps because they loved it.

All the grade 3s enjoyed reading their fractured fairy tales to the preps in week 6. All students made their own fractured fairy by combining or adding a twist to an original fairytale. Students had use fairy tales such as 3 little pigs, cinderella, and many more amazing examples. And a year 3 cohort assembly was called at the end and 5 student who had volunteered to read out their story read out their extraordinary storys. Thank you for listening.

History

The First Fleet

By 3E

The first fleet arrived in Sydney Cove on January 1788 with only three stops along the way and while travelling for about 8-9 months. There were eleven ships in total made up of sailors, soldiers, the wives and children and convicts.

Britain had claimed that Australia was Terra Nullius which means no one’s land even though they met the Aboriginal people on earlier trips and knew Australia was occupied.

British people also brought convicts which were criminals or prisoners. You see people in Europe were very poor and stole food for their families, and the British government had imposed very strict laws on people. The jails got so full so many prisoners were sent to hard labour in Australia.

By Reggie 3C

Eddie Mabo was born on June 29th 1936. Eddie Mabo's full name is Edward Koiki Sumbo. Eddie grew up on Mer Island. When he grew up he made a school for First Nations children. Mabo also became involved in politics. Eddie Mabo won a very important court case against the whole of Queensland. In 1992 the court agreed to First Nation's claim of the land and overturned "Terra Nullius". He died in 1992 and was honored as Australian of the Year in the newspaper. We now celebrate Mabo Day on June 3rd every year.
