Grade 3
This week the Grade 3 students have been exploring the invisible forces of magnets. Through hands-on activities, they are discovering how magnets attract and repel, what materials magnets work on, and how these properties can be used in everyday life.
Grade 4
Students are applying their science knowledge about energy transfer to a creative project in Minecraft Education. They are designing and building sustainable houses that use sustainable building practices such as insulation, trees and eaves to reduce energy use.
Grade 5
Our Grade 5 classes are investigating colour and light. Students are learning how white light can be split into the colours of the rainbow, then recombined. To test this, they have made their own Newton’s Discs, spinning paper circles that blend colours together.
Grade 6
Students are continuing with their electronic gadget project and also looking at the bigger picture, looking at where our energy comes from. They are comparing renewable sources like wind, solar and hydro with non renewables like coal and gas. Through class discussions, we are weighing up the pros and cons of each source and considering how energy choices affect people and the environment.
