An Art prize winner

One of our talented students, Aurelia A-M (6L), shared some wonderful news this week - winning the Junior Art Prize at the Linden Postcard Show held recently at Linden New Art, St Kilda

This exhibition, now in its 35th year, showcases over 1,000 postcard-sized artworks (and more) from artists across Australia, making it one of Melbourne’s most anticipated and inclusive art events.

The Linden Postcard Show is open to everyone, celebrates a wide range of artistic styles and mediums—from traditional 2D works to 3D and multimedia—and offers a variety of prize categories that recognise emerging talent, including a Young Artist/Junior Art Prize that Aurelia has impressively claimed this year.

Aurelia’s win is a testament to her creativity and dedication. We’re incredibly proud of her achievement and excited to see where her artistic journey will take her next!

Final Day of Term 3 – Footy Colours Day!

We’re excited to finish Term 3 with a day of celebration and community spirit on Friday 19th September.

SKiPPS Footy Colours Day in 1962
SKiPPS Footy Colours Day in 1962

As is tradition at SKiPPS, we’ll be running our annual Footy Colours Day. Students, staff, and families are warmly invited to come dressed in the scarves, jerseys, and colours of their favourite football team—whether it’s AFL, soccer, rugby, or another code you love!

Here’s what’s planned for the day:

  • 9:00am – Parade on the basketball court - We’ll kick things off with a colourful parade showcasing everyone’s team pride.

  • Oval – Longest Kick competition - After the parade, students will head to the oval for our much-loved longest kick contest, with some exciting prizes up for grabs.

  • Lunchtime – SKiPPAs Footy Lunch - Our Parents’ Association will be serving up a special party pie and sausage roll lunch. Orders can be placed online via https://compasstix.com/event/b332d6ad-4f49-417d-9efc-d1496b968a5a .

  • 2:00pm – End-of-term Assembly - Join us in the quadrangle for our whole-school assembly as we wrap up the term together.

  • 2:30pm – Early Dismissal - Please note that school will finish at the earlier time.

It’s always a fun and festive way to finish the term—we can’t wait to see the colours and excitement on the day!

Library books

With less than 2 weeks to go until school holidays, it is time to return any borrowed school library books.

Please return them as soon as possible, as this will allow Carolyn, our library technician to organise and restock the library space in preparation for a busy Term 4.

Lost property - please claim your items!

We have amassed a huge collection of jumpers and jackets, water bottles and miscellaneous items over Term 3.  Parents are asked to visit the Lost & Found, accessible via the Quadrangle, to claim items belonging to their child.

All unclaimed items will be donated to charity on Friday next week.

SKiPPA Sushi and Pasta - a huge thank you

As we come to the end of term, we want to say a huge thank you to the tireless parents and carers of SKiPPA (our Parents' Association).

In amongst the amazing events such as our Father's Day breakfast, each week they have been at school serving pasta each Friday and sushi lunch orders each Monday to hungry students.

A reminder that the final week of pasta is this Friday (12th September) - no pasta on the final day of term.

The final day of sushi is next Monday 15th September (the final Monday of term).

Education Department Parent/Carer Opinion Survey

Each year the Department of Education runs the Parent/Carer Opinion Survey, which gives families an opportunity to share their perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement.

  • The survey is open from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025.
  • It takes around 20 minutes to complete and can be done on a desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone.
  • Families can complete the survey in English or in 10 other languages.

A Compass message with the survey link and PIN was re-sent to all families today (Wednesday 3rd September). Participation is optional, but we encourage all parents and carers to take part. The results help us identify areas for improvement, guide professional learning, and inform school planning.
