Seedlings group

Over the last term, our fabulous Sustainability Group Leaders have been helping to facilitate a lunch club for our Prep to Grade 3 students who wish to help out with sustainability at our school by picking up rubbish in the yard. The SGL have taken time out of their lunch break to give out equipment (tongs and bags) and collect the equipment and give out stickers at the end. A shout out to Ellen Stanic, who designed certificates for students who have come to our Seedlings group for 5 sessions. Thanks Ellen! The Seedlings group meets every Friday first half of lunch outside the Speight St building.

Grants

Recently, we applied for three grants to help us invigorate garden spaces around the school:

-Darebin Council ‘Go green schools’ to have native plants and a bug pad donated.

-The Coles/planet Ark sustainable schools.

-The Victorian schools garden program.

We will learn if we are successful by the end of November.

Outdoor learning

Last week Grade 5 and Prep students enjoyed playing together with the new equipment purchased for our Outdoor learning space. It was great to see the students having fun together.

The outdoor rugs, giant game sets and other equipment were purchased using funds from the Movie night in Term 1. Thank you, Wales Street fundraising committee and our Wales Street community!
