Colours
This week playgroup was bursting with colour as children explored through creative, hands-on activities and music.
They made playdough rainbows, coloured with crayons, built with colour-sorted blocks, and sorted pom poms to support fine motor skills. In the home corner, colourful food groups inspired imaginative kitchen play, while trucks filled with coloured rocks added a fun transport twist.
We read “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” while eating a healthy snack and sang “I Can Sing a Rainbow” before ending with our cheerful goodbye song under the parachute, made extra special with the help of our wonderful Year 6 students.
Animals on the Farm
Our little farmers got hands-on with all things barnyard as they explored a range of farm-themed activities. Pigs rolled in “mud” at the playdough station, while crayons brought farm animal pictures to life with colour. Toy animals, fences, and trees helped children design their very own miniature farms, encouraging imaginative play and storytelling.
We splashed into song with a “pond” full of five little ducks, where nursery rhyme fun sparked smiles and singing. Cosy corners offered farm-themed picture books for quiet reading moments, while favourites like the makeup doll station, dress-up babies, dinosaurs, and the sand play box were also popular throughout the morning.
To finish our farm adventure, we read "Old MacDonald Had a Farm", sang “Five Little Ducks,” and waved goodbye under our colourful parachute with our goodbye song. Another wonderful morning of learning, laughter, and play!
