Whole School Happenings

From Bimbadeen to Papua New Guinea!
Something truly special is happening at our school - and it’s not just the usual buzz of learning and laughter. This month, our trusty school desks are embarking on a brand-new adventure… all the way to Papua New Guinea (PNG)!
We are thrilled to announce that our furniture is being donated to schools across PNG, where they’ll be given a second life in classrooms filled with eager young learners. It is a beautiful way to extend the spirit of education beyond our own walls and into communities where these tables and chairs will make a world of difference.
The excitement kicked off with the arrival of a massive 40-foot shipping container — imagine the size of a classroom on wheels! Students and staff gathered to watch as the container was unloaded and then the tables be stacked up ready to go.
Soon, this container will set sail, with our furniture ‘jumping’ aboard a ship bound for PNG. Once it arrives, the tables will be set up in schools across the country, ready to support new students in their learning journeys.
This donation is more than just furniture — it’s a gift of opportunity, a gesture of friendship, and a celebration of global community. We’re proud to be part of something so meaningful, and we hope our desks enjoy their next tropical adventure!
It’s Time to Walkity Walk!
Official Launch of Our Walk to School Routes - Thursday 30th October @ 8.30am
We’re thrilled to announce our very first Walk to School Day on Thursday 30th October - and it comes with an exciting new name, chosen by our Grade 5 students: Walkity Walk!
This special day marks the official launch of six new safe walking routes developed in partnership with Yarra Ranges Council. These routes have been designed to help students walk to school safely and independently - not just for one day, but as part of a long-term active travel initiative.
To celebrate the launch, Council staff and some teachers will be present to supervise each walking group on the morning of Walkity Walk Day.
A film crew will also be joining us to capture the event and showcase our school’s commitment to healthy, sustainable travel.
We would love you to be part of the fun.
- Choose a route to travel on the day of the launch (the routes range from approximately 5 -12 minutes)
- Meet at the designated drop-off points at 8.30am for a walk start time of 8.40am.
Students from Prep to Grade 3 must be accompanied by an adult.
Please note: After this launch event, school staff will not be supervising the walk routes.
These paths are designed to be safe and simple enough for students to navigate independently. Therefore, we encourage parents and carers to walk with their children in the early weeks and help them become confident and familiar with the routes.
Let’s work together to build healthy habits, promote independence, and make our school community stronger - one step at a time!
