Introducing Ripple – Supporting Student Wellbeing

At St Joseph’s, supporting the wellbeing of every child remains a key priority. We are pleased to introduce Ripple, a wellbeing check-in program that will be used with students in Years 3–6.

Ripple is a simple, age-appropriate check-in that allows students to regularly reflect on how they are feeling at school. Students in Years 3–6 will begin completing a brief daily wellbeing check-in, where they are asked to rate areas such as their sleep, hunger, concentration, sense of safety, friendships, confidence, happiness, calmness and overall health.

These regular check-ins provide teachers with timely insights into student wellbeing and help to identify patterns over time. They also support important social and emotional learning skills by encouraging students to notice their feelings, build self-awareness and develop confidence in help-seeking when needed.

In the coming weeks, we are also exploring the implementation of a weekly wellbeing check-in for students in the junior years. This survey will be completed on paper and will be developmentally appropriate, supporting younger students to begin recognising and naming their feelings in a safe and supportive way.

This is just one tool to help support student wellbeing and strengthen communication between students and staff, which supports our students to feel safe, supported and connected at school.
