Grade Five / Six

Class Information

Welcome to Term Two! We have enjoyed a wonderful first week with the students, getting back into our routines and hearing all about their holidays. The students have resumed their leadership roles beautifully, both as Year 6 Leaders and as supportive Buddies and members of the Senior Unit.

WINTER UNIFORM

Just a reminder that we have one more week of wearing Summer/ Winter Uniform before we transition fully into our Winter Uniform. Please reach out if you need help getting your hands on anything.

HOMEWORK AND READING

This week we resume homework for the term. Students will have a Spelling and Maths homework sheet to complete. As with Term One, it is handed out on Monday and the expectation is that they will complete and hand it in by Friday the same week. If your child has any reasons for not being able to complete their homework (we understand that life is busy) please don’t hesitate to let us know.

Reading is a nightly expectation as we continue to develop their love of reading for pleasure. Please remind them to read each evening, whether with yourselves or as a nice way to slow down at the end of the day before going to sleep.

EXPERIENCE ST LIBORIUS EVENING

This Tuesday the 28th of April, we will host this wonderful evening. All of our Year 6 leaders have been invited to be part of the night so we encourage parents to respond to our online form asking for numbers of students able to attend.

TRANSITION DAY VISITS (MARIST AND CMC)

This Thursday the 30th of April we start the first of many transition visits. Students who are attending the CMC Transition from 9am-12pm will be bused to the venue with St Liborius staff assisting with the day.

Students attending the Marist Transition Day on Tuesday the 5th of May will be for the whole day. We look forward to hearing all about their experiences.

RIGHTS, RESILIENCE AND RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS

The students enjoyed participating in a Problem Solving activity last week where they were the problem solvers. Students had to think about current issues that students their age face and write an anonymous letter outlining what the issue was. We then rotated through panel members who had the opportunity to hear the problem and offer advice. It was a lovely activity where students reflected on the problems authentically and offered excellent words of advice.
