The Film Crew’s recent animation competition created an exciting buzz, with students showcasing both their creative flair and technical skills using the program Blender—the same software used in the animated film Flow.

A special thank you to Tom Nisbett for his support in the judging process, and to all students who participated and shared their work.

Congratulations to our winners:

First Prize: Chris J

Second Prize: Mark Z

Third Prize: Zoe L

The Film Crew has also been fortunate to receive a generous donation from the Ms. Wilson (STEM club) of a large soft box light to support upcoming film shoots, along with access to six drones, which students are looking forward to trialling later in Term 2.

It was great to see new collaborations emerging at the final meeting for Term 1, with writers working closely alongside artists to develop storyboards for the upcoming micro flick. Meanwhile, the new student-run Behind the Scenes magazine is now in full swing, with one issue scheduled for publication at the end of each semester.

The VSC podcast has taken a little longer than expected to establish, with equipment now ordered and eagerly awaited. This has provided students with a valuable insight into the realities of media production—where patience is key, and delays are often part of the creative process.
