Principal's Report

Vermont Secondary College

Thank you to all the members of our school community who have been in touch regarding my appointment as Acting Principal until the end of 2026. I deeply appreciate the expressions of support and I am honoured, humbled and excited to have the opportunity to take on this role.

Tony Jacobs has played a vital role in leading our school as College Principal since 2008. Tony is currently with the school group on exchange with our sister school in Germany and will commence his retirement when he returns. As one of the longest serving principals in the state of Victoria, Tony has lead Vermont Secondary College throughout a period of significant and sustained growth in both academic results and student enrolments. We will hold a formal retirement function for Tony later in the year and will be provide details closer to the date.

As Acting Principal I aim to honour the work of the past by maintaining many of the high-quality practices, process and cultures that make us one of Victoria’s highest performing state secondary schools.

In this, the second year of our School Strategic Plan, we are particularly attentive to making improvements in Wellbeing, Learning and Teaching in alignment with our newly developed Instructional Model (below).

This is a model that draws on the best available current research provided by the Australian Educational Research Organisation and through the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model to ensure the students at our school have the best possible opportunity to achieve success, regardless of their starting point or previous level of achievement.
