Junior State Music Camp - The Arts Unit (Department of Education)
The Arts Unit offers a Junior State Music Camp (Years 5 to 8) each year, with a residential camp experience for participating students to celebrate all forms of music making and provide unique music extension experiences. High potential and gifted music students join together each year to receive expert tutelage and develop their music performance skills. During the week, students rehearse and perform a range of engaging and high-quality repertoire, culminating in a concert for families on the final night of the camp.
Students interested in the Junior Music Camp should be at the level of AMEB Grade 3 or above, as a minimum standard.

Dates: 19 July to 24 July 2026 (Term 3 Week 1)
Venue: Sydney Academy of Sport, Wakehurst Parkway, Narrabeen (Office of Communities, Sport & Recreation)
Participation fee: $780 (including GST) per student, paid by the family
Application deadline: 8 May 2026
Applicants are required to provide the name and contact email of a recommending teacher. This teacher will receive an email after the application has been submitted, asking for a short reference supporting the application. Recommending teachers can be a private instrumental/voice teacher, a school music teacher or an ensemble conductor.
Please inform the school if you are applying for your child.
Please note: There are limited places at music camps for each instrument type due to the individual requirements of each ensemble. As a result, only a small number of guitarists and pianists can be accepted at each camp. The Arts Unit are particularly interested in expanding the vocal and string sections of camp and encourage more vocalists and string players to apply.
