Building Positive Learning Habits for Success

As we conclude another busy and successful term, we would like to acknowledge the efforts of our students, staff and families in continuing to strengthen the positive learning culture across our College. Throughout Term 2, we have continued to build upon our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework, with a strong focus on clearly teaching, reinforcing and recognising the behaviours that help students learn and thrive. Staff have continued to work with students to explicitly teach our expected behaviours in classrooms, around the school grounds and within the wider community, ensuring that all students understand what it means to demonstrate our College values of Respect, Excellence and Diversity.

A significant area of focus this term has been strengthening positive classroom learning behaviours. Through classroom lessons, assemblies and staff professional learning, we have worked to establish consistent expectations that support orderly learning environments where every student can succeed. These expectations include arriving on time, being prepared for learning, participating positively in class and showing respect for the learning of others.

Attendance remains one of the most important factors influencing student achievement and wellbeing. We have continued to work closely with students and families to ensure students attend school every day and arrive on time. Every day of learning matters, and regular attendance helps students maintain academic progress, build positive relationships and feel connected to their school community.

We have also continued to emphasise the importance of students being ready to learn each day. This includes arriving at school on time, wearing the correct school uniform with pride and bringing the necessary learning materials and equipment to class. These routines help create a calm and productive learning environment and support students to engage fully in their learning from the beginning of each lesson.

It has been pleasing to see the positive progress made by so many students throughout the term. We have observed increasing numbers of students consistently demonstrating our positive learning expectations and contributing to a respectful and supportive school environment.

As we look ahead to Term 3, we will continue our work with students and staff to strengthen positive learning behaviours, improve attendance and further embed our SWPBS framework across the College. Together, we are creating a learning environment where every student is supported to achieve success and reach their full potential.

Thank you to our students, staff and families for your continued partnership and commitment throughout the term. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday break and look forward to welcoming students back refreshed and ready for another successful term.
