Years 3 - 5

The senior students have demonstrated an excellent growth mindset recently, showing persistence and dedication while completing their summative assessments. I am incredibly proud of the effort each student has put into demonstrating their learning.
In Mathematics, we have begun exploring the features and properties of three-dimensional (3D) objects. Students have learned to categorise 3D objects as either prisms or pyramids, and have been identifying the number of faces, edges and vertices each object has. It has been fantastic to see students building confidence as they explore and discuss these concepts.
In Science, we have been investigating how matter can change state through changes in temperature. Students explored this in an engaging and memorable way by learning how hard lollies are made, following the process from hot liquid sugar, to a high-viscosity mixture that is cooled, coloured and folded, before being shaped into solid lollies such as candy canes, drop candy and image candy. A crowd favourite was watching the process of drop candy being made, with this video inspriring many students to consider becoming a confectioner!
In Humanities, as part of Civics and Citizenship, students have been learning about the difference between rules and laws. They have also made comparisons with Customary Lore, through exploring the traditional laws and practices of First Nations Australians.
In Art, students have been developing their drawing and blending skills using oil pastels. They have created imaginative artworks featuring animals wearing bright, patterned knitted sweaters and winter accessories. It has been wonderful to see their creativity come to life through these unique and engaging designs.
Lastly, a huge congratulations goes to Edith. She represented our school at the Eisteddfod on Tuesday for her guitar solo, in which she recieved an Honourable Mention. Very well done Edith, you should be very proud of yourself!
