K, 1 - Miss Smith

Learning Intentions

Kindergarten: We are learning how numbers can be broken into smaller parts and put back together again, using numbers up to 10.

Year 1: We are learning how numbers work together in addition and how to break numbers into parts to help us solve problems.

This fortnight, Kindergarten and Year 1 have been enthusiastically exploring numbers through hands-on learning and games. Using activities such as counters, ten frames and dice games, we have been practising different ways to break apart and combine numbers while using strategies to solve problems and explain their thinking. It has been wonderful to see the children growing in confidence as they work together, share ideas and develop strong mathematical foundations.

How you can help at home: Encourage your child to use numbers in everyday situations. Practising number facts, counting collections, sharing items into groups, playing board or card games, and asking simple maths questions during daily routines can help strengthen confidence and problem-solving skills.

2, 3 - Miss Bustard

Learning Intention: We are learning to use persuasive visual and written techniques to market a creative product.

Have you ever wondered why certain cereal boxes practically leap off the supermarket shelves and into your trolley? Year 2/3 have been finding out exactly how the magic happens. Using the colourful world of children’s cereal adverts as their inspiration, the children have been exploring how clever slogans, vibrant imagery, and sneaky design choices influence shoppers. They then stepped into the shoes of professional marketeers to design and pitch their very own creative products. From catchy alliteration to eye-catching logos, the enthusiasm on display has been absolutely brilliant.

4, 5 & 6 - Mr Prince

Learning Intention: We are learning to explore Aboriginal perspectives through art and use storytelling and symbols to create our own meaningful artworks.

In Creative Arts, Year 4/5/6 explored Aboriginal perspectives and created their own inspired artworks. We were very lucky to have Miss Gemma share her artistic talents, stories, and cultural knowledge with our class. Her demonstrations and personal stories helped guide and inspire students as they thoughtfully designed and created their own unique pieces of art. Our young people showed creativity, respect, and enthusiasm throughout the learning experience.
