Principal's Message
By Daniel Chittenden
Hello everyone,
That colder weather has started to set in. It's been good while it lasted! Having the synthetic turf areas at our school makes things so much easier in winter - no mud and more play space.
It was exciting to have a delivery of letters from the Grade 3 & 4 classes this week (see pictures). They have all been working on their handwriting this term and students are producing some wonderful pieces of work. Students delivered persuasive letters requesting improvements for our school. Flying foxes, giant slides and swings are all very popular requests, but unfortunately our sick bay would have record numbers if we built these. Two great request were ball nets for the oval (which will be part of our fence build) and reintroducing cooking classes. We met at school to discuss reintroducing cooking classes, and thought it was a great idea to get going again. We are looking to use our spare canteen area and look forward to letting Violet in 3/4 know that her idea has been used.

FENCE UPDATE:
You all would have seen the recent changes. The builders have been able to open the gate on the corner of Ward/Wolseley Street. We have a new gate open near the oval on Wolseley Street. Works still on track to be completed end of May/start of June. Fingers crossed.
AMBULANCE COVER:
Just a friendly reminder that it is highly recommended families have current ambulance cover for their child/ren. While our staff are trained at Level 2 First Aid, there are times when we are required to call an ambulance to ensure students receive the appropriate medical care as quickly as possible.
We also ask that you please make sure your contact details, as well as your nominated emergency contact details, are up to date with the school. This is very important so we can reach someone promptly if needed.
Please also be aware that parents will be responsible for any cost associated with an ambulance or medical bills.
BEHAVIOUR FOCUS:
Recently we have been made aware of students being targeted with specific racial remarks. This has been immediately addressed, with parents in Grade 3-6 being notified of our next steps to address this. As a staff we were hugely disappointed, but look forward to implementing a plan so this does not continue, and our students can develop their understanding of respect, difference and what it takes to be a good person.
OVAL HIRE:

Wishing you all a great couple of weeks ahead.
Daniel
