Year 12 Chemistry students completing their reaction rate practical. Students were able to see a fantastic colour change to test the change in reaction rate based on concentration, temperature and the use of a catalyst.

Students from both Year 12 Physical Education classes recently took part in an engaging METS Education incursion focused on energy systems, Interplay concepts and how the body fuels physical performance based on intensity and duration. The session brought sports science to life with two live demonstrations that had the whole room watching closely, preparing the students for their Unit 3, outcome 2 SAC.

To showcase Aerobic Power, Mitch bravely stepped up for a VO2 Max test — a challenging assessment that measures how efficiently the body uses oxygen during intense exercise. Soon after, James took on the anerobic capacity explosive 30‑second Wingate test, pushing through an all‑out sprint effort that highlighted the anaerobic energy systems in action.
Both volunteers gave outstanding efforts, and their willingness to participate helped everyone gain a clearer understanding of how different energy systems work under different intensities and durations. A huge thank‑you to Mitch and James for stepping up and giving 100%.
We’d also like to acknowledge both classes for the encouragement they offered throughout the demonstrations and for the thoughtful answers they contributed during discussions. Your enthusiasm made the session a real success.
