Year 10 history students in the elective ‘Fighting For Freedom’ visited Old Melbourne Gaol to take part in a ‘Ned Kelly Experience’. In their final unit of work, students are challenged to create inquiry questions focusing on People Movements: how different ideologies and objectives were propelled through grassroots civilian movements and the extent to which this enacted change.

We focused on the story of Ned Kelly as a case study to introduce the topic, so a trip to the Old Melbourne Gaol was a great way to better understand the life and mythology surrounding one of Australia’s most (in)famous historical figures.

The year 10s did a brilliant job reenacting the trial of Ned Kelly, with a special shoutout to Ollie as the judge, Sir Redmond Barry, and Summeye and Ishaan as the lawyers. Students then had the opportunity to visit the rather intimidating Watchhouse, before spending time in the terrifying yet captivating Old Gaol.
A big thank you to the students for attending – you were brilliant!

And thanks to Ms Callegaro for your support on the day.
Last Tuesday the year 10 Geography elective "The Big Picture" went to Healesville Sanctuary to learn about animal conservation and observe animal + human wellbeing.

Well done to all the students on the day, and a big thanks to ADI for coming and SCO for driving the bus!!!
