Kino for Kids – German Film Festival

On Wednesday, 13 June, the Year 11 students of German had the opportunity to attend the German Film Festival in the city. The Kino for Kids program is a collection of films for a younger audience, which takes place as part of the festival. This year, our students watched the film The Secret Floor, which tells the story of a young boy who travels back in time to 1938 through his family’s hotel.

While the children in the film work together to solve the mystery of some stolen money, the film’s deeper theme explores the importance of understanding history and the ways complex historical events can be meaningfully explained to young people. It was a wonderful afternoon out, and the film was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Jessica spoke about future pathways and opportunities to study German language, culture and literature at Monash University, as well as exchange and study opportunities in Germany through scholarship programs offered by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). Students also had the chance to ask questions and gain valuable insights following the presentation.
