A HEARTFELT THANK YOU FOR OUR SPECTACULAR WHOLE SCHOOL ART SHOW

On behalf of our entire school community, we would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Mrs Mary Katis for the extraordinary work, dedication, and creativity that made this year’s Whole School Art Show such a memorable success.

Throughout the entire term, Mrs Katis worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this ambitious vision to life. Inspired by the enchanting theme of Alice in Wonderland, every student in the school had the opportunity to create and showcase their artwork, resulting in a truly inclusive celebration of creativity, imagination, and self-expression.

From the moment families stepped into the gym, they were transported into a magical world. The transformation of the space was simply breathtaking. The incredible props, thoughtfully designed decorations, and meticulous organisation created an immersive experience that captured the wonder and whimsy of the theme.

What made the event even more special was seeing the pride and excitement on our students’ faces as they guided parents, carers, and friends through the exhibition, eagerly sharing their artistic achievements. It was a wonderful reminder of the confidence, joy, and sense of accomplishment that the arts can inspire in our children.

Every detail of the afternoon had been carefully considered, from the captivating displays to the welcoming atmosphere. The small touches, often unnoticed but deeply appreciated, helped create an event that felt truly magical and reflected the enormous amount of care and commitment invested in its planning.

A special thank you must also go to our dedicated Student Art Captains, who played an important role in bringing the event to life. From assisting with the set-up to warmly greeting guests at the door and handing out welcome heart stickers, their enthusiasm, leadership, and willingness to help contributed greatly to the success of the evening.

We are incredibly fortunate to have such passionate educators and student leaders within our school community. The Art Show was not only a celebration of our students’ talents but also a testament to the power of creativity, collaboration, and community spirit.

Thank you, Mrs Katis, for your vision, hard work, and unwavering commitment to ensuring every student had the opportunity to shine. The school and wider community are immensely grateful for all that you do. This year’s Art Show will be remembered for many years to come.

The success of our Whole School Art Show would not have been possible without the incredible support, dedication, and generosity of Melissa, Alicia, Natalie and Jen as well as our Parents and Friends Committee and our wonderful parent volunteers.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Melissa, Alicia, Jen, Natalie and the entire P&F team, whose tireless efforts behind the scenes helped bring this special event to life. Countless hours were devoted to planning, coordinating, problem-solving, and ensuring every detail was thoughtfully considered to create an unforgettable experience for our students, families, and wider community.

A special thank you also goes to all of the parent helpers who generously gave their time and energy in the lead-up to the event and on the day itself. From setting up displays and transforming the space, to sourcing sponsors, coordinating the silent auction and raffles, and assisting wherever needed, your contributions played an essential role in the success of the Art Show.

The enthusiasm, commitment, and community spirit shown by our volunteers were truly inspiring. The support provided not only enhanced the event itself but also helped create valuable opportunities and resources for our school community.

We are incredibly grateful for the many hours of work that often go unseen and for the willingness of so many families to contribute their skills, ideas, and time. Your dedication demonstrates the strength of our school community and the positive impact that can be achieved when we work together.

UPDATE FROM SEAN ABELL, MPS SCHOOL COUNCIL PRESIDENT

This week School Council held our final Term 2 meeting to discuss matters affecting our school community. Firstly, a big thank you to our dedicated School Council members who generously volunteer their time and talents throughout the year.

Each member energetically brings their unique skills, experiences, and perspectives to our strong and diverse team working together to drive positive change. This month we are in the process of reviewing several school policies to ensure that these continue to reflect best practice and the needs of our students and families. In response to recent community feedback, we have also begun planning to implement improved guidelines for fundraising initiatives, which we're looking forward to sharing more details about soon.

In addition, we talked about upcoming proposed Term 3 plans for parent education sessions, community events & working bees. These events are only possible thanks to the time and energy of parents and carers who pitch in, whether that's flipping sausages on the BBQ, baking or donating goods to sell, or lending a hand with the gardening and events around the school. These are wonderful opportunities to meet other families, get to know the school grounds your kids spend their days in, and give back in a way that makes a real, visible difference. Keep an eye out for the sign-up details coming soon, just an hour or two of your time means so much!

On behalf of the School Council, I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank those families who have already paid their voluntary school contributions this year, and to encourage those who haven't yet, it’s not too late! These contributions make a real difference, helping us fund additional resources and programs that benefit every student. We'd also like to remind families that contributions made specifically to the school's Building Fund are tax deductible, so if you're considering your contribution this year, the Building Fund is a great way to support the school while also receiving that benefit at tax time!

ANOTHER HIGHLIGHT THIS WEEK! CHINESE DUMPLING COOKING

As part of our Chinese language program, students recently enjoyed a wonderful cultural immersion experience with Mr Fang, learning the art of making traditional Chinese dumplings. This hands-on activity provided students with a meaningful opportunity to connect their classroom learning with authentic cultural practices, deepening their understanding of the rich traditions, customs, and values that are an important part of Chinese culture. Through the experience, students explored the significance of food in bringing families and communities together and discovered how traditional dishes can play an important role in celebrations and everyday life.

The dumpling-making session was filled with excitement, curiosity, and plenty of laughter as students rolled, filled, and carefully folded their own creations under Mr Fang’s expert guidance. The interactive nature of the activity encouraged students to develop new skills, ask questions, and engage with the Chinese language in a practical and memorable way.

The highlight of the experience was, of course, tasting the delicious dumplings, they had made themselves, a rewarding end to a fun and enriching learning experience.

END OF TERM MESSAGE

As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding term at Moorabbin Primary School, I would like to thank our students, families, staff, and wider community for your ongoing support, enthusiasm, and commitment.

Today’s edition will be my final newsletter message for the term; we will hold our final assembly on Thursday 25th June 3-3.30pm and students finishing up on Friday 26th June at 2:30 pm. Team kids will provide aftercare from 2.30pm onwards for families that require this service.

It has certainly been a term filled with memorable experiences and achievements. Our students have embraced a wide range of excursions and incursions, navigated changes and challenges with resilience, and participated in countless opportunities to learn, grow, and connect.

From exciting sporting events and camps to outstanding artistic showcases, our students have demonstrated curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and perseverance. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished.

Our school community has also come together to celebrate a number of wonderful events, including the Mother’s Day Luncheon, Mother’s Day stalls, and our spectacular Whole School Art Show. These occasions not only enrich our students’ experiences but also strengthen the strong sense of belonging that makes Moorabbin Primary School such a special place.

As we head into the holiday break, I encourage everyone to take time to rest, recharge, and enjoy quality time with family and friends.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the start of Term 3 on Monday, 13 July.
