National Simultaneous Storytime
On Wednesday the 27th May, our Prep - 2 students participated in National Simultaneous Story Time. The National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is an annual event held by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) that brings millions of Australians together to read the same picture book at the exact same time. The official book selected was Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller, written by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, and illustrated by Jake Minton.
The story features a spirited young kangaroo named Luna, who steps up as rookie captain for FC Outback. Facing a daunting match against Bush United, Luna learns to overcome her nerves, trust her skills, and lead her teammates to victory.
Some quotes from our NSS participants:
The story is about a kangaroo in a soccer game and she scores a goal. I like Luna Roo because she tried her best! Sana P
Luna Roo was upset about herself for the first quarter because she let the other team get a goal. But in the second quarter she didn’t give up and she stopped a goal. Luna Roo was good at not giving up and trying her best! Theo L
At the start, the people who were watching were saying BOOOO to the teams but after they scored a goal they were saying good things and encouraging. Eloise G
The story was teaching us to never give up and always try your best. I liked the story. I would give 4 ½ stars! Isaac M
Year 5/6 Wellbeing Day - Building Respect, Connection and Stronger Friendships
On Tuesday, our Year 5/6 students took part in a dedicated Wellbeing Day designed to strengthen relationships, build empathy, and support connections across the level.
Throughout the day, students engaged in a range of structured activities focused on friendship skills, respectful communication, emotional awareness, and what it means to be an upstander. Drawing on elements of The Resilience Project, students reflected on their own behaviours, the impact of their actions on others, and the qualities that contribute to safe and supportive relationships.
The day was led by Miss Bridget, Mr Nick and Mr Josh, who provided an important opportunity for students to strengthen connections, develop social and emotional skills, and reflect on how they contribute to a respectful and supportive year level community.
