Canva and Bunnings excursion

Year 12 Business Management
Canva and Bunnings excursion
On Thursday 21 May, we had the opportunity to visit Canva and Bunnings to learn more about how successful businesses operate and create positive experiences for both customers and employees. The excursion was both educational and enjoyable, giving us insight into different workplaces and the many roles and equipment involved in running a business effectively.

Our first stop was Canva, where we learned about the employees' different roles within the business. They explained how staff from many different areas, such as design, engineering and customer support work together to improve the experience for users of the platform. We also learned about the ways Canva focuses on sustainability and creating a positive workplace culture. It was interesting to hear how the company aims to make design accessible for everyone while still continuing to grow as a global business.
After the presentation, we were taken on a tour of the Canva office. The workplace had a very relaxed and creative atmosphere, which reflected the company’s culture. The office spaces were modern, colourful, and designed to encourage collaboration and creativity among employees. Seeing the workplace in person helped us understand why employee wellbeing and teamwork are important parts of the company’s success and made us want to work there.
Later in the day, we travelled to Bunnings, where we were given another informative tour. During the visit, we learned about the different equipment, systems, and processes Bunnings uses to maximise efficiency and improve customer experience in their stores. Staff explained how organisation, teamwork, and safety are essential in a large retail environment. It was interesting to see how much planning and effort goes into keeping the store running smoothly each day.
One of the highlights of the Bunnings visit was participating in a practical activity where we built our own wooden boxes using wood, nails, and hammers. Although it seemed simple at first, it turned out to be more difficult than expected because the nails often went crooked while we were hammering them in. Despite the challenge, the activity was very enjoyable and gave us the chance to practise patience and problem-solving skills.

Overall, the excursion was a valuable experience that allowed us to learn more about different industries, workplace environments, and the importance of teamwork, creativity, and customer service in successful businesses.
