National Reconciliation Week
National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements exploring how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation not only within our school but across Australia.
The week is an important opportunity for Croydon Hills Primary School to foster understanding, respect and connection between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. In a school setting, Reconciliation Week encourages students to learn about Australia’s shared history, celebrate the world’s oldest continuing cultures, and reflect on how kindness, inclusion and respect can strengthen our communities. Through stories, discussions, art, music and meaningful classroom activities, children develop empathy, cultural awareness and a deeper appreciation for First Nations perspectives. By embedding reconciliation into everyday learning, our school helps nurture a generation of young people who value diversity, fairness and belonging for all.
The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is All In, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day making it clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.
The artwork for this campaign is by renowned Gumbaynggirr/Bundjalung artist Otis Hope Carey, who applied his distinctive style to create a colourful and optimistic visual representation of people from all walks of life being ‘all in’ to make change.
