Principal's Report
Nadja Wood - Acting Principal
As I approach the end of my first term at Marlborough Primary School, I would like to take a moment to express how proud and privileged I feel to be leading such a caring, supportive and welcoming school community. Over the past few months, I have witnessed first hand the dedication of our staff, the kindness of our students, and the strong partnerships we share with families. It is clear that everyone works together with a common goal: ensuring every child feels valued, supported and able to achieve their personal best.
At Marlborough Primary School, student wellbeing and support remain our highest priorities. We know that students learn best when they feel safe, connected and understood, and we are continually reviewing and refining our practices to ensure all students have the support they need to thrive both academically and socially. I would like to thank our families and wider community for your ongoing support, trust and commitment to our school. Together, we continue to make Marlborough Primary School the wonderful place it is, and I look forward to all that we will achieve in the future.
Trivia Night – COME AND JOIN IN THE FUN!
We would love to see as many members of our school community as possible at our Trivia Night next Saturday evening (June 20th)! This promises to be a fantastic night filled with fun, laughter, friendly competition, and an opportunity to connect with other families and staff. Whether you're a trivia expert or simply looking for a great night out, everyone is welcome. Events like these help strengthen the wonderful sense of community that makes Marlborough Primary School such a special place. Gather your friends, book a table, and join us for what is sure to be a memorable evening. We can't wait to see you there!
MND Fundraiser
Marlborough Primary School is proud to be supporting FightMND and helping to raise funds to continue the fight against Motor Neurone Disease (MND). The beanies and socks have arrived and are now available for purchase from the school office, with all proceeds contributing to this important cause. Our School Captains will also be visiting classrooms to sell FightMND beanies for $20 and socks for $15.
We will also be holding a whole-school FightMND Fundraising Day on the last day of term (Friday 26th June). Students are encouraged to wear blue and bring along a gold coin donation to show their support. This will be a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together, raise awareness, and contribute to an important cause. Every donation and purchase helps fund vital research, care, and support for people living with MND and their families. Thank you for helping us make a difference.
A special thank you to our Junior School Council for their leadership, enthusiasm, and hard work in bringing this fundraiser to life. Their commitment to supporting others is a wonderful example of our school values in action.

2027 Foundation Enrolments
As we begin planning for 2027, we would love the support of our wonderful school community in helping to spread the word about all that makes Marlborough Primary School such a special place. Word of mouth remains one of the most powerful ways to showcase our school, and we encourage you to share your positive experiences with friends, family, neighbours, and prospective families. Attitudes to School Survey
A huge thank you to all of our students who recently completed the Attitudes to School Survey. We were incredibly impressed with the thoughtful and considerate way you approached the survey. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us. It helps us understand what is working well at Marlborough Primary School and identifies areas where we can continue to improve. We are looking forward to reviewing the results together as a school community and using your perspectives to help make our school an even better place to be engaged, successful and happy.
I have been able to access the preliminary data, and it is wonderful to see our students being such positive advocates for our school. The results indicate that students overwhelmingly feel supported, included, and valued, reporting that they enjoy coming to school and being part of the Marlborough community. These findings are a testament to the caring and inclusive environment created by our staff, students, and families.
Building Works – Community Feedback for Master Plan
Thank you so much to all the families who took the time to provide feedback to help guide our Master Plan for future capital works. Your input is invaluable and will play an important role in shaping the future of our school and it was wonderful to hear your ideas, priorities, and aspirations for Marlborough Primary School. The feedback received will help ensure that any future improvements reflect the needs of our students, staff, families, and wider community.
On this day…
- 5th June 1862: Largest Gold Robbery in Australian History
In regional New South Wales, infamous bushrangers Frank Gardiner, Ben Hall, and Johnny Gilbert held up the Lachlan Gold Escort near Eugowra Rocks. Using stolen ammunition, they ambushed the transport carriage and made off with an incredible $27,000 worth of gold and cash which was a king's ransom at the time.
- June 1859: Queensland Becomes a Separate Colony
Queensland separated from New South Wales and became its own colony which was an important step in Australia's development.
- June 1903: First Teddy Bear Patent
This was one of the earliest teddy bear patents to be filed, helping launch one of the world's most beloved toys.
