What's Happening in the Senior School

Year 5
What’s Happening in Year 5 in February
We are excited to be back for another year. We hope you all had an enjoyable summer.
We will be running our start-up program to build relationships and spend time learning about each other.
On Wednesday through to Friday of Week 2, we will be attending Sovereign Hill. This has already been a source of great excitement, and we are looking forward to immersing students in our History unit.
Once camp is behind us, we will start the preparation for NAPLAN, which starts in Week 7 of Term 1.
A reminder that there are the You Tell Us interviews on the 9th and 10th of February. This is a highly valuable time, and we strongly encourage parents to meet with us to share pertinent information.
Interschool sport starts in Week 4. Students are required to be at school by 8:45 AM if they are representing the school in a team. Training will happen at school this week.
This year, we are encouraging students to transport their library and take-home books in a Beaumaris Primary School Reading satchel. If you already have one at home, please send it to school as soon as possible. If not, they are available for purchase from the office ($12).

Year 6
What’s Happening in Year 6 in February
The Year 6 students have kicked off the year with energy and enthusiasm, showing they are ready to make the most of their final year of primary school.
During the first few days in their new classroom, students have begun building strong connections within their classes, getting to know one another’s interests and discovering what they have in common. Together, they have also established their own classroom norms, thoughtfully discussing what they would like their year to look like, feel like and sound like through the lens of the 4 R’s: Respect, Responsibility, Relationships and Resilience. To demonstrate their commitment, each student created a unique puzzle piece as a personal signature, symbolising their promise to uphold these shared expectations.
A highlight of the opening week was meeting their Prep Buddies for lunch on the Preps’ very first day of school. This special moment was enjoyed by both year levels, as our Year 6 students proudly stepped into their roles as school leaders. Leading by example through their behaviour and attitude, they have already shown maturity, responsibility and care, qualities that inspire our youngest learners.
Wearing their Year 6 t-shirts with pride, students have embraced their leadership role and demonstrated a strong sense of school spirit. With such a positive start to the year, the Year 6 cohort is well prepared and excited to begin their final year of learning at BPS.
It’s important to be mindful that students are still adjusting to new routines and also that students will be attending camp in Week 3.
