Silver Selection and the Next Step Forward
Maddison Fellowes (Year 11) continues to build an impressive basketball résumé, competing at the recent Under 18 State Championships on the Gold Coast as part of Brisbane Capitals - Silver.
Across a demanding championship schedule, the Capitals recorded four wins from eight matches, narrowly missing a grand final berth after a one-point semi-final loss a margin that highlights how fiercely contested the tournament was.
Adding to a strong campaign, Maddi has now been selected in the Under 21s Queensland Youth State League Team, a significant step up that recognises her consistency, composure and growing impact on the court. Alongside her state commitments, Maddi also competes in the Greater Brisbane Open League, balancing high-level competition week in, week out.
A strong example of commitment meeting opportunity, Maddi’s pathway reflects the depth of capacity and ambition within Clayfield College Sport, and we look forward to watching what comes next. Congratulations Maddi!
Home Court Momentum for Senior Boys Basketball
After a long summer break, our Senior Boys Basketball teams returned to competitive action in emphatic fashion, hitting the home court for Round 6 of the Summer Season and making it count.
All three teams delivered composed, hard-earned victories, setting a strong tone for the weeks ahead. The Under 16 Green side controlled the tempo to secure a confident 38–23 win, while the Under 16 Blue team showed grit and composure under pressure, edging out a thrilling 22–21 result. Rounding out the afternoon, the Under 18s produced a commanding performance, finishing strongly for a 50–41 victory. With sharp execution, growing cohesion and the energy of a home crowd behind them, it was a rewarding return to competition and a promising sign of what lies ahead this season for Clayfield College basketball.
