Looking back at Year 8 Wilsons Prom Camp 2025

Through experiences like Wilsons Prom camp, we hope our students deepen their understanding of our Year 8 theme and what it means to “Love God, Love Yourself, Love Others".
Love God
Wilsons Prom is a spectacular part of God’s creation that continually points us back to the Creator. Exploring this landscape is an eye‑opening experience for students and staff alike. From the first glimpse of a sandy bay after a challenging hike, to canoeing along Tidal River, the Prom offers countless moments of joy and wonder. It is almost impossible to stand in such beauty without feeling a deep sense of gratitude for God’s good and generous gifts.
Love Yourself
Camp provides students with the opportunity to push themselves and celebrate their achievements. Many display remarkable resilience as they hike further than they ever have before. They figuratively, and sometimes literally, reach new heights. In doing so, they gain a greater appreciation for their God‑given capabilities and recognise that they have been “fearfully and wonderfully made".
Love Others
Shared challenges create opportunities for connection. Whether it’s encouraging someone who is struggling on a hike, volunteering for extra dish duty, or offering a simple “thank you", students learn that small acts of care can build strong and lasting relationships. The camp experience reminds them of the power of community and what it looks like to love others well.
As students move beyond Year 8, it is my hope and prayer that they continue to love God, see themselves and others through God’s eyes, and allow this perspective to shape them into people ready and equipped to fulfil God’s calling on their lives.
