MECS has a rich history of being a school that, from its inception, wanted to be distinctive in seeking to reflect Jesus in all aspects of school life. At MECS, we believe everyone sees the world through a lens – or worldview – ours is shaped by the Bible. This biblical perspective guides all our teaching and helps students see life through the truth of God’s Word.

We believe that every part of life belongs to Christ. This belief informs and influences the way we engage with the prescribed Victorian Curriculum. While we teach the curriculum, it is our faith that provides the lens through which we approach it. We are committed to helping students connect their learning with God’s bigger story.

At the heart of MECS is that our students would know Jesus, as Lord and Saviour of all things. That their lives would reflect an understanding of a biblical world view and that as servants of Christ, they would be challenged to live actively for God in His world; Seeking the Kingdom of God in Education. As such, our learning framework is consistent from Kinder to Senior Secondary including VCE, VCE- VM and Ranges TEC. 

Seven key ‘threads’ infuse the development of our learning and teaching as we actively seek to understand what it means to be responsive disciples of Jesus. They define what we hope our students will be and become as reflectors of the image of God.

As these are active statements, teachers are prompted to craft experiences within each unit of work for the students to engage with transformation learning activities (TRAC) and formational learning experiences (FLEX) rather than keeping it theoretical. Through activity, students identify their role in God’s story which brings purpose in to this generation of students.
