BE ON TIME FOR SCHOOL EVERY DAY
A reminder that morning supervision commences from 8.45 each morning. We know that getting off to a great start each day is critical for learning, so we are encouraging everyone to be on time and ready to go inside classrooms before the 9am bell.
At the other end of the day a bell will ring at 3.30pm where students will be dismissed and again at 3.45pm. This is a reminder to any student who remains unsupervised that they need to report to the office so that we can ensure they get home safely as yard supervision finishes at this time each day.
Compulsory School Uniform
The school guidelines make it very clear as to the expectations of all students in regards to school uniform. It is expected, even at this early stage of the year, that all students adhere to these guidelines and that they are in full school uniform, including a school hat. Staff will contact the parents of those students who are not in uniform and do not have a note from home explaining this.
ROAD SAFETY AROUND SCHOOLS
Speed zones, pedestrian crossings and parking restrictions around school are there to improve the movement of traffic during peak times and maximise safety for children and road users. It is vital that adults lead by example and set good road safety practices travelling to and from school. As such we are asking all parents and carers to observe and obey parking signs and in particular No Stopping and No parking signs.
Banyule City Council have asked us to remind our school community that it is an offence to:
- double park by stopping next to a legally parked vehicle, even for a short time or to drop off/pick up passengers
- Stop or park across a driveway, footpath or dividing strip
- Stop or park within 10 metres of an intersection or corner that doesn’t have traffic lights
- Stop or park across or in a bus zone.
Council Local Laws Officers are active around our school area to issue warnings and fines.
ANNUAL REMINDERS FROM THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
Privacy
Our school collects and uses student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ privacy policy and the Schools’ privacy collection notice.
Our Photographing, Filming and Recording Students policy, describes how we collect and use photographs, video and recordings of students. The policy also explains when parent consent is required and how it can be provided and withdrawn.
We ask parents to also review the guidance we provide on how we use Google Workspace for Education safely at the school and what parents can do to further protect their child’s information. If after reviewing the guidance, you have any questions or concerns regarding your child using Google Workspace for Education, please contact the school.
For more information about privacy, refer to: Schools’ privacy policy: information for parents. This information is also available in eleven community languages:
Student accident insurance/ambulance cover arrangements
Please be aware, the Department does not provide personal accident insurance or ambulance cover for students. Parents/carers of students, who do not have student accident insurance/ambulance cover, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance or transport as well as any other transport costs.
Private property brought to school
Private property brought to school by students, staff or visitors is not insured and the Department does not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage. This can include mobile phones, ‘wearables’, calculators, toys, sporting equipment and cars parked on school premises. As the Department does not hold insurance for personal property brought to schools and has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property, students and staff are discouraged from bringing any unnecessary or particularly valuable items to school. Parents/carers can purchase insurance policies from commercial insurers if they wish.
