Dear Families,
We would like to warmly welcome you all to Term 1, 2026.
We have had a wonderful start to the term. All students are settling smoothly into their new classroom routines. The classroom teachers have worked collaboratively and tirelessly to create warm, inviting spaces where children feel safe, comfortable, and ready to learn.
In the first week, students have focused on building strong, respectful, and positive relationships with both their teachers and peers. To support the development of these relationships, students have participated in a range of activities, including:
We would also like to sincerely thank all the families who attended the ‘Meet the Teacher’ meetings. These sessions provided a valuable opportunity for us to work collaboratively to support and enhance your child’s learning.
In Reading, we have been focusing on building strong comprehension skills through daily reading experiences. Students have been practising strategies such as:
We have also been exploring texts that connect to personal experiences and culture, helping students make meaningful connections to what they read.
In Writing, students have begun developing their ideas through structured sentence and paragraph work. Our focus has been on:

In numeracy, we have been revising key number concepts and strengthening problem-solving routines. Students have been working on:
We are also beginning to build a classroom culture of productive struggle encouraging students to persevere and share strategies.
Our SEL and Inquiry learning has focused on building a strong classroom community . Students have been reflecting on what it means to belong and understanding culture and identity.
We have started creating shared class agreements and exploring the idea that our classroom is a team, where everyone has a role/identity in helping our community thrive.

Homework will be sent home each Monday and is to be returned by Friday each week. Library books are to be borrowed and returned during library sessions assigned to each class.
