Wellbeing at ENPS

Welcome back to the new school year! We hope our students and families are feeling refreshed and ready for the exciting year ahead. It has been wonderful to reconnect with our school community, and such a joy to see so many smiling faces back at school.
I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself to our new students and families, and to warmly welcome back those who already know me. My name is Serena Walker, and I am the Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader at ENPS, as well as a member of our Disability Inclusion Team. I work closely alongside Connor Smith, Assistant Principal - Student Engagement, Wellbeing and Inclusion, and our wider school leadership team. Together, we support the individual and collective wellbeing of our students and staff, with a strong focus on creating a positive, inclusive, and safe school community for everyone. In 2026, we are excited to continue building on the wellbeing initiatives already in place at ENPS.
We’ve had a fantastic start to the year and have loved seeing students settle in, reconnect with friends, and grow in confidence. Below are some of the experiences and routines that have supported such a positive beginning, both in and out of the classroom.
Community Connection: Each morning has started with a whole-school announcement to help set students up for learning and success. Our leadership team shares important updates, reminders, and a daily learning focus. These will continue every Monday morning throughout the year. In classrooms, students have also been engaging in connection activities that strengthen relationships, build a sense of belonging, and support positive classroom communities.
School-Wide Positive Behaviours: Our School-Wide Positive Behaviours (SWPBS) expectations continue to be a key focus in 2026. Students have revisited our three core values of safe, kind, and respectful and reflected on how these values look in action each day through our School-Wide Positive Behaviours Matrix.
Start-Up Unit: Our first unit of learning has focused on starting the year positively and developing the attributes of an ENPS learner. ENPS learners are responsible, curious, resilient, communicators, and reflective. Across Week Two, learning experiences were closely linked to literacy and numeracy while also nurturing these important learner qualities.
ENPS Routines: Classrooms have been practising whole-school routines to promote consistency, clarity, and positive learning environments. These include our attention cue, lining up, classroom entry and exit procedures, listening-to-learn behaviours, and arrival expectations. Consistent routines help students feel supported and ready to learn.
Learning Community Agreements: Students and teachers have worked together to develop Learning Community Agreements in each classroom. These shared agreements reinforce that everyone belongs and that each student plays an important role in creating a positive learning environment.
Safe Play: Mr Smith has been working closely with students during break times to ensure clear and consistent safe play expectations. Our Year Four to Six students have collaboratively developed a Soccer Safe Play Agreement, supporting shared understanding and helping to ensure playtimes are safe, inclusive, and enjoyable for all.
We are incredibly proud of the positive start our students have made this year and look forward to many more wonderful learning and wellbeing experiences throughout 2026!
