Principal's Report

Dear families,

Welcome back to the 2026 academic year and to those parents and carers that I have not yet had a chance to greet this year. It is with great excitement that the students now have access to the full suite of services in our brand new student wellbeing centre, Inclusion and Diversity resources room and comfortable locker spaces for our Year 7 students. These resources are second to none in the district and we are very proud to allow our students to grow into their own identity within the supportive and nurturing environment offered.

This year our theme will be ‘Peace’. At our assembly last Friday, I explored with the students what that word means to us locally and beyond. I explained that ‘peace’ is not passive, we have to take action to bring about a sense of peace. Peace may begin with something small, like a kind word or a listening ear. Peace grows when we feel safe, known and valued. This will be the expectations that I have this year of our staff and students. I look forward in partnering you as we commit to nurturing the academic, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing of your son or daughter.

Term 1 is always busy and I highlighted some key dates for you in an earlier email. I encourage you to explore the College calendar on PAM. I will mention that our school photo’s are on Tuesday, 10 February. Students are asked to be in full summer uniform with their hair worn appropriately and jewellery in line with college policy.

I have just spent three days with our Year 12 cohort on their retreat. Over these days we explored their journey's to this stage and began the challenging task of answering the following two questions:

 a) Who are you really? And,

b) What are you really afraid of?

These are not easy questions to provide an authentic answer to and I challenge those reading this now to reflect on what your responses would be to these questions. Once again, I considered myself blessed to be able to spend such important time away with these brilliant young women and men as they begin their final year at St Brigid’s College.

Stay safe,

Gerard Raven
