Cross Country

On Tue 19 March, Levels 3-6 participated in our annual House Cross Country championships. The rain stayed away and the wind died down for a perfect afternoon and fast times. Students from Under 11 and Under 12/13 ran a 3km course, whilst students from Grade 3 and Under 10’s ran a 2km course. We encourage participation and having a go in all our sporting competitions, so it was fantastic at the end of the day to see so many students who had set mini personal goals excited about achieving them. Congratulations to the students below who have made it through to District Cross Country by finishing in the top 10.

This will be held later in Term 2 and you will be notified of details closer to the date. Congratulations also to the following boys and girls who achieved the overall fastest times for each distance.

Running Club

Every Wednesday before school we have been holding our Running Club for students from Levels 2-6. Any students from these age groups are welcome to attend from 8:30-8:50am. It has been great to have between 50-70 students participating in a range of running based activities. This will continue next term, beginning in week 2, until Winter when we will reassess due to weather and light restrictions. Please ensure your child is ticked off each week as we want to acknowledge regular attendance with certificates.

Thanks to the House Captains and some other Grade 6 helpers for all their work in getting the running club off the ground.

Basketball Shooting Competitions

For the last 2 weeks, some house captains have been hosting exciting basketball challenges to test and develop different basketball fundamentals in a fun but challenging way for levels 3-6. There has been some tough competitions and competitive students but there is always one person who comes out on top. We have been doing a three-point contest, cone shooting and a skills challenge. Each challenge has been good in many ways and will help give confidence and develop each and every person’s basketball ability. We have had some experienced players and some that are still learning and that’s what we like about it, we’ve even had a mixture of boys and girls which we think is great so not just the boys are doing.

It has been very fun, and we hope everyone else thinks the same.
