ANZAC DAY

ANZAC DAY is on Thursday the 25th of April 2024. There is no school on this day

We currently have $1 badges $3 bracelets and $4 keyrings available at the office for sale.

Special Assembly

April 25th marks the date on which a major military campaign took place at Gallipoli, Turkey, during the First World War in 1915. It has become a day of national significance in both Australia and New Zealand and, on this date, we take time to remember the many thousands of Australians and New Zealanders "who have served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations" in the defence of their country.

The importance of this day will be discussed with students at an assembly that will be held on Wednesday 24th April starting at 3pm. This commemorative assembly will incorporate elements of a traditional ANZAC Day service including:

- a description of the significance of this date to all Australians

- lowering of our flag to half-mast on the flag-pole

- reading of ‘The Ode’

- playing of ‘The Last Post’

- laying a wreath on behalf of the school community

Please note: If any other students would like to bring along their own flowers to participate in this part of the Assembly, they are most welcome to do so.

A minute of silence will then be held by all staff, students & visitors - as a sign of respect.

Parents are very welcome to attend this commemorative assembly. (Please use the side gates to enter the school. The gates will be opened at 2.55pm)

School Colour Run

DPW will be hosting a Colour Run! It will be held on Friday 26th of April from 2.30pm onwards.  All students are encouraged to participate in the event. Parents are also encouraged to attend to watch their child participate in the run. On the day, there is some key information that parents / guardians need to be aware of to ensure your child can make the most out of the day and most importantly stay safe.

  • Children should wear an OLD, CHEAP or a WHITE t-shirt. It is encouraged they wear white to allow for the colour to stay and be most effective, however, any shirt is great. Please don't send your child in their school uniform.
  • Sunglasses or goggles are highly encouraged.
  • Due to the event being outside, please put sunscreen on your child before they leave at the beginning of the day, or in their school bag.
  • A towel to sit on in the car on the way home is also recommended.

Parents should be made aware that the food-colouring in the powder may stain the clothes even after they have washed. But that’s the whole point of a Colour Run – to get as messy as possible.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
