Deputy News

Dear Parents and families,

It was wonderful to have a well needed break over the extra long weekend, just what we all needed at this stage of the term. Its been a busy week with NAPLAN, St Patrick's day and the Athletics Carnival today.

Over this past fortnight I attended a learning Diversity seminar which was part of a seminar series from Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools-Problem Solving for Planning and Powerful instruction. This was a brilliant networking day with diversity leaders across the southern network working and planning together to ensure we have the best outcomes for our students. We analysed how students learn and identified our protocols for problem solving in our schools. We looked at a variety of case studies and discussed how we would cater for a diverse range of needs in our school settings. This Professional learning is invaluable for our schools.

Yesterday a team of teachers met with Mary Anne Rugg, our learning consultant from MACS to begin the process of the intervention framework. Kate Stroud, Jayne McKay, Joanne Collins, Mak Bulte and I began the process which we will share with staff in the coming months.

Some of the key principals of the framework are-

  • All students can learn
  • Effective schools enable a culture of learning in a safe environment
  • Effective teachers are critical to student learning success
  • Learning and teaching are inclusive of all
  • Teaching support is aligned to the identified needs and talents of students
  • Effective teaching practices are based on research and evidence
  • Inclusive schools actively engage and work in partnership with the wider community

ST PATRICK'S DAY FUN

We celebrated St Patrick's day on Thursday with a touch of green and  a lovely St Patrick's Day assembly to recognise the 17th of March. Thanks Mr Blake and the student leaders for running the assembly. We learnt a lot of important information about St Patrick.
