Partnerships and Pathways
A select group of Year 9 and 10 students with a passion for technology headed to the Great Hall at UTS for the ‘Big Day In’ Expo this week, opening doors for them to explore where a career in technology could take them and learn how to begin shaping their STEM pathways. Featuring guest speakers from Adobe, Google, Animal Logic, ADF, Microsoft and Woolworths - students were inspired by the wide ranging themes around finding their dream job and career opportunities in animation, AI and the enormous role of technology and innovation in big business. In addition to the fascinating presentations, students had the opportunity to visit and meet a wide range of innovative businesses at the cutting edge of technology - inspiring them to consider where their careers may take them.
We were excited to welcome Michael Basan, SEDA Stakeholder Engagement Manager (NSW) and Kaitlin Antao (Class of 2023 and SEDA Diploma Student with the Western Sydney Wanderers) as part of our Lunch and Learn Series recently. Michael and Kaitlin provided our students with an inspiring and insightful presentation about dual diplomas in sport and business. The students were in awe as they listened to Kaitlin describe her study and the amazing opportunities she is receiving through her Diploma!
The first of our Pathways and Careers modules in Wellbeing classes have now rolled out to all year groups. Your daughters have access to a wide range of tools from Beyond and Ponder to help them discern their strengths, interests and career aspirations - and I encourage you to ask them to show you what is available to them! For students who have not yet logged into Beyond - they can do so via the link that has been emailed to them from Beyond or via this link.
This week I met with our Year 12s to provide an overview of the many pathway options they may be considering, including university (UAC and early entry), scholarships, TAFE, college, work and more. Students have also been provided with four key resources that will enable each Year 12 student to craft their individual post school pathway plan. These can be found on our Careers Canvas page.
There is also a UAC webinar this Wednesday 27 March at 6pm for Year 12 parents and carers, specifically designed to help you support your daughter’s journey to higher education. This online event will show you how to navigate the application process more efficiently and receive valuable insights on course preferences, adjustment factors and selection ranks.
