Seasons For Growth

Dear families,

I am in the process of preparing for Seasons for Growth. This is an 8 week in-school hours grief and loss program for children who have experienced a loss through death or family breakdown.

The following link will provide you with more information: Seasons For Growth Fact Sheet

Should you wish for your child to participate or if you would like more information, please email me jsheehan@stkennington.catholic.edu.au or contact me through the office.

Regards,

Jenny Sheehan, School Family Support.

Morning Drop Off

There has been an increase in students arriving at school before 8:30am, which is the time when school officially opens and teachers begin the morning yard duty. This is the time that the Lowndes Street Gate is opened.

Classroom doors open at 8:50 am. This means that for students who arrive before 8:30am, there is a long wait before they can enter their classroom. Something to be mindful of as the mornings get colder.

For the safety of your child/ren, we ask that students do not arrive at school before 8:30 am. The YMCA offers Before School Care for families who require their child/ren to be dropped off before 8:30am.

We thank you in advance for your support in this matter.

Collection of Students during the day

To ensure the safety of students and the flow of teaching and learning, parents are asked to go to the School Office if collecting their child/ren early. The Office will contact the classrooms, and the teachers will arrange for the child/ren to present at the Office before going home.

Late Pick up

School finishes at 3.20 pm, and duty teachers finish supervision of children at the designated pick-up points by 3.40 pm, thus giving families an ample 20 minutes to do school pick-up.

However, we do understand that problems sometimes arise, so if this occurs, please contact the Office or utilise After School Care.

School Parking

The dirt school car park is beginning to resemble a game of Rush Hour. To keep all community members safe, parents are reminded to adhere to parking regulations and not double park around the school. Pedestrians entering this car park are also encouraged to be mindful of car movements.

Management of Confirmed COVID-19 Cases at School

The Department of Health recommends that a person who tests positive for COVID-19 report the results to their employer, school, and household.

Where students are identified as a positive case, it is recommended that schools take the following steps:

  • Parents/carers should inform the school by phone or written notification if a student tests positive.
  • Students who report a positive result are recommended to isolate for a minimum of 5 days and not attend school until their symptoms have resolved.

Fresh Fruit Friday

Thanks to the McKern Foundation for their wonderful work with the Fresh Fruit Fridays program which started up again this year. They deliver boxes of fruit each week and the St Therese's staff cut up and deliver to the classes.

The St Therese's children enjoy their fresh fruit every Friday.
