Year 8 & 9

Assistant Principal's Report

What an eventful first term we’ve had, and I’m sure many of you will be looking forward to the Easter break and spending time with your families.

The middle years students have been working hard in their classrooms and have received the first of this year’s reports. Parent Teacher conferences were held yesterday and it was good to see many of you there to discuss your child’s progress and set goals for next term.

Lots has been happening outside of the classroom too with Harmony week taking centre stage last week. It was terrific to see all the students celebrating each other’s cultural diversity and sharing cultural experiences such as ceremonial wrist tying and dancing, orche face painting and henna hand tattooing. Most of these activities were student led and our students were consistently demonstrating outstanding leadership qualities.

Our year 7 and 9 students have just completed their NAPLAN assessments in Writing, Reading, Conventions of language and Numeracy. When this data becomes available it is invaluable to our school and teaching staff who use it to plan individual and cohort education plans.

Parent teacher interviews are also occurring at the moment and we really hope that you’ve been able to take the opportunity to come and meet your child’s teachers and discuss their progress.

We hope you all enjoy the Easter break and recharge those batteries ready for next term
