Real World Experiences- A lifetime curiosity

Yr-11 Physics students had an opportunity to attend the Physics Engineering Lab Day early this term to ignite their passion for engineering. Students had an engaging hands- on experience which provided them an opportunity to apply their Physics knowledge on real world problems like manufacturing and a use of electric vehicles for sustainable future.

Students built an electric car and connected globally. They learnt from expert engineers from Unites States and Australia. They were guided by the working Engineers during the workshop who shared their path to a career in engineering. Students’ questions were also answered during the workshop. Our presenters were Milton Davis, OSAM 1- SPACE Vehicle Manager from NASA and Engineering and Mike Marino from Global Infrastructure of Sydney Airport

In this workshop students learnt about, how providing methods of electrical energy to vehicles can connect and sustain communities across the globe and investigated the impact of different materials and designs. They had an opportunity to design, build, and test their own electric vehicle and witnessed other school students’ car design from other schools in Melbourne.

Students Reflection Post Workshop:

Robbert Mort- ‘It was fun and challenging. I would happily participate in the these activities again.’

Justin Erardo- ‘The workshop provided an opportunity for me to learn about the electrical vehicles and showcase my design skills to integrate aerodynamics with the model car.’

Brody Thompson- ‘Very cool, do it again!’

Florentino Junior and William Phillip- ‘We found the workshop very intriguing and engaging, the people were very informative, and it was very insightful overall.’
