Assistant Principal's Report

Term 1 Parent Student Teacher Conferences and Reports

As we conclude Term 1, we extend our gratitude to the families who joined us for the Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, March 26th. Your active participation and meaningful conversations play a pivotal role in our students' growth and achievement. We appreciate your ongoing collaboration towards positive student outcomes.

Throughout this term, our students have diligently engaged with their classroom curriculum, completing various assessment tasks across all subjects. We are thrilled to witness and report on their progress and celebrate their achievements.

We are pleased to inform you that the Term 1 reports are now available on Compass. Additionally, hard copies were distributed to students on Friday, March 22nd.

Learning catch up and extension

Teachers have been focusing on ensuring all students have the essential skills and knowledge in each of their subject areas. Teachers are also monitoring students and supporting them to make the next steps in their learning.

We support students in a number of programs to assist learning catch up and extension. Among these are the MYLNS program, Year 12 external tutors, the Enhancement Program, the Quicksmart program and the Tutor Learning Initiative. Furthermore, Homework Club provides learning support for students every Wednesday from 3:10 to 4:00pm.

NAPLAN 2024

Our Year 7 and 9 students participated in the nation-wide online NAPLAN testing which ran very successfully from 13th March to 25th March. Thank you to parents and teachers for their work in preparing and encouraging students to participate to their best. The tests provide useful information and effective indicators of how our students are travelling and how they can be supported in their learning needs.

Alumni Program

Wyndham Central College is proud of our alumni and the Alumni Program continues this year.

Alumni from our foundation schools – Galvin Park Secondary College and Werribee Technical School – are also part of our alumni community.

The purpose of the alumni community is to advise, help and inspire current students at Wyndham Central College and support a network with other ex-students.

We developed the program in partnership with Ourschool, a not-for-profit service that helps public schools build their alumni communities.

Our alumni program focuses on:

  • Establishing and growing our alumni community
  • Inviting alumni back to school to provide career or study advice to students
  • Inviting alumni to offer work experience placements for our students
  • Helping alumni establish or contribute to student scholarships
  • Establishing avenues for alumni to provide philanthropic support

Alumni can join our alumni community by filling in the form on our College website at https://www.wyndhamcentralsc.vic.edu.au/alumni/

I wish you all a wonderful Term break and look forward to seeing all students return on 15th April for the new term.
