St Patrick's Mass Excursion

Last Friday, our Year 6 Faith and Mission team along with Claire and Sarah experienced a once in a lifetime excursion to St Patrick's Cathedral in the City. St Peters, SMCM and Brother Rhys went on the bus together to St Pat’s. We arrived at St Patrick’s and saw Irish bagpipes and hundreds of schools with their commemorative banners. As we walked in, we were amazed by the architecture and the picturesque stained glass windows around us. We were lucky enough to be seated in the front row to the side of the altar and could see all the Priests, Bishops and the Archbishop. As the mass started, we paid our respects to the Archbishop as he was introduced to the reverent mass. As we listened to the Gospel the Archbishop spoke and he explained about how everyone was welcomed back home (within the Cathedral).

As the mass ended we gathered together at the Treasury Garden with music, games and all the other schools. We placed our mat beside St Peter’s. All the children ran to games and music. At lunch we all gathered together to eat. Most people said a little prayer while others just ate. As we were leaving we were all sleepy on the bus after a great day out.

Caritas Thursday: Harmony Day

Our fourth week of Project Compassion has a focus on The Common Good;  We look out for everybody, and include them, because they are part of our family. This week we have teamed our Caritas theme with Harmony Week. Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

‘Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever arguments you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.  Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.’ The letter of Saint Paul to the Colossians  (3: 12 – 15)

Over the past 4 weeks, we have collected donations to go towards Project Compassion. In total, we have raised $2,003.40. A big thank you to our students, staff and families for all your generous donations and for taking action during this season of Lent!

Reconciliation: Family Faith Night

A reminder to families, as part of celebrating Reconciliation with the Parish community, families are asked to attend a Parish Mass. At this Mass your child will be acknowledged and the parishioners will be asked to pray for them as they take this next step in the faith journey.
