Hello Families,
Where has the term gone! This will be our last newsletter for the term, with the last day of school for students this coming Wednesday March 27th. We are holding Student Support Group meetings in the afternoons Monday through to Wednesday from 3.30pm to 4.30pm and during the day on Thursday March 28th. Student Support Group meetings are a great opportunity to have a look at the successes of our young people & catch up with your students’ academic progress. This meeting is one of the most important catch ups of the year as Teachers will be presenting their ideas and DRAFT Learning Goals for your child for 2024. We are very keen to have your input into the goal setting so please make a time with your teacher if you haven’t already.
Last week we celebrated Harmony Week, which is the Australia interpretation of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. We acknowledged this week with various activities across many days involving all students. On Monday we had an official flag raising ceremony with a guest performance from the Faatoe family who performed a beautiful song in their home language from Samoa. On Thursday, many of our students wore orange or traditional clothing from their home country. We also had Rangoli artwork in various locations with senior students assisting our younger students with this activity. It was also nice to see our staff celebrating together over lunch.
Also last week we hosted another online Community Connections session, where our families were invited to participate. We had a guest speaker, Dan Petro who presented information on “Building resilience and taking care of yourselves” and “How to build positive behaviors” in our students. Parents who attended this session reported that they found it really helpful.
We would like to thank the Food Bank for their continued efforts to support our families with assorted grocery items and supplies for student lunches who may have forgotten lunch at home from time to time.
As always please enjoy the holiday period with family and friends doing the things you enjoy!
See you all in Term 2,
Brooke
