Athletics Carnival

Our 2024 school athletics carnival was held at Riviera Park in Term 1. Moving to a different venue this year, mother nature looked after us and gave us a beautiful day to enjoy. A huge thank you must go to all the staff for all the hard work they put in, as well as everyone from the Seaford Little Athletics Club. A day like that doesn’t run without a massive effort from everyone involved. Well done also to all the students who turned out in team colours and got involved, making for a great carnival. The next round of competition will be the NPD Championships held in Term 3.

Swimming Carnival

We recently held our school swimming carnival on a beautiful sunny day at Pines Pool. A big thank you to all the staff for all the hard work they put in, and an even bigger thank you to all the students who turned out in team colours and got involved, making for a great carnival. An extra special mention to the VM students who did a fantastic job running activities around the pool all day. Well done team!

The results from the carnival saw Aston as the overall winners on the day, with Derrimut coming in as runners up. Monash and Freeman finished 3rd and 4th respectively. The 2024 Ultimate Eels were Caitlin M and Owen H, who each took home the title as the fastest individual swimmers in the school!

A special mention to 3 swimmers who went on to collect medals at the SMR Championships. Congratulations to Charlee L, Owen H and Lily Z. And good luck to Charlee who will go on to compete at the State Championships in Term 2.

VCE VM Swimming Carnival

On Monday the 19th of Feb, the VM students ran activities at the swimming carnival which were novelty games in the children’s pool, basketball on the court, best dressed, push a teacher in the pool, face painting, glamour girls, waterslide, candy games, marshalling the students at the end of the finish line and spin the wheel for prizes.

The purpose of doing these activities were to be able to communicate and engage with other students and people that are part of the college community while creating a fun and safe environment for everyone to get involved on the day.

Throughout this event, we were getting assessed on procedural text which we had to write out a plan of how the day was going to go, at what time everything was running and where everyone was going to be doing at certain times. The other outcome of this assessment was leadership and being able to work together as a team to be able to make the day run smoothly.

Northern Peninsula District Inter-School Sport

Patterson River Secondary College competed in the Northern Peninsula Division in Volleyball, Tennis, Baseball & Cricket. We had many teams competing across all year levels. Well done to all of the students who represented the school and a massive thank you to the teachers who gave up their time to train and coach these teams in what was a busy start to the year.

Congratulations to the intermediate girls and boys cricket teams on winning the NPD Championships. Both teams will go on to compete at the SMR Championships in Term 4. Well done to their coaches Ando Allan and Matt Hayes.

We also had our year 7 girls tennis team win the NPD Championships on the back of some great coaching from D’Arcy Garton.

NPD Intermediate Girls Cricket

The Intermediate Girls Cricket team competed in the NPD Super 8s cricket competition at Ballam Park against EMC and Frankston High School. Our team was comprised of 4 current cricketers and 5 players that were new to the sport. After a crash course for the girls and an intensive training session, the team played EMC in their first game and in a close contest won 55-48. The second game against Frankston was a much more one-sided affair with a convincing win to Patterson River Secondary Colle 93 -29. A fantastic effort to win the NPD Pennant and progress through to the District Round later in Term 4. Well done to the following girls; Hayley T, Isabelle Atkins, Ruby Johnson, Lucy M, Rubie H, Alana K, Addison P, Audrey R and Tamisha U.

Carrum Coast Guard Fun Run

The Carrum Coast Guard Fun Run is a great opportunity for students to represent the school at a Community event as well as raising money for a valuable cause. We had 37 participants register and compete in the teams event for the 6km run. Patterson River Secondary College was crowned the winning team for the event and we also had some fantastic individual results. An amazing effort by Lachlan F who won the overall event and the Male 17 and Under category with an impressive time 20:11minutes. Zac E also received the bronze medal for coming 3rd in the Male 17 and Under category. Well done to all the students, parents and staff that supported this event.
