Dear Parents and Carers,
I had the pleasure of accompanying our Stage 3 students on their overnight excursion to Canberra. The positive feedback we received from various places we visited is a testament to their exemplary behaviour, knowledge and attentiveness. Congratulations to the Stage 3 teachers for their excellent preparation and guidance throughout this excursion. Thank you also to the staff who attended. Their time and dedication ensures that we can continue to provide overnight opportunities for our students.
Our reports for Semester One were made available to parents on Monday through the Compass portal (Reports tab). Please download a copy.
This report reflects the growth of your child as well as the areas that require improvement. It is lovely to see the learning strengths that have been achieved during Semester One. Whilst academic achievement is very important, it is also so nice to hear that students are kind and inclusive and that they are cheerful and resilient. These are the skills that will assist students to persevere in the face of challenges and to get along with others. Congratulations to all of our students on their growth.
NESA has advised that the 2025 NAPLAN results for Year 3 and Year 5 will be dispatched to schools for distribution to parents at the start of Term 3. The preliminary results show that we have much to celebrate, showcasing the hard work and dedication of our students and staff. We look forward to sharing the detailed results with you and celebrating the individual and collective successes of our students.
Mrs Wood has accepted a position at St. Patrick's, Mortlake and will not be returning next term. We are very grateful to have had Mrs Wood's expertise, dedication and commitment to performing arts at St. Martha's for the past 10 years. We will have an opportunity to farewell and thank Mrs Wood next term.
This week we welcomed back Mrs Earl who has been travelling overseas with her family. It was great to see her back on the school crossing and in classrooms supporting our students.
Mrs Parsell is on leave this week spending time with her daughter and grandchildren.
Miss Farrell has taken some time off to travel back to Ireland and spend time with her mum who has been ill. Mr Canning has been teaching Music and Drama in her abscence and we thank him for taking on this role.
Tuesday 29th July is St. Martha's Feast Day and we have an exciting day of celebrations planned (please see the Religious Education News page for more information). We also have some other activities planned for the week to celebrate:
Wed 30th July - Outdoor Olden Day activities (Students to wear sport Uniform)
Thur 31st July - Students through the Decades Dress Up and Classroom Activities (Students to come dressed in clothes of yesteryear - from the 1920's to today)
As we come to the end of another busy and productive term, I would like to thank the staff for their continued hard work, professionalism and commitment in ensuring that we provide a high quality education for all our students. Thank you to the families who offer our school support and encouragement. Finally a big shout out to all of our students, who continue to strive, achieve and serve while being respectful, safe and responsible - have a wonderful holiday! We look forward to welcoming all students back to school for Term 3 on Tuesday 22nd July.
