From the Principal

During this week’s Secondary School assembly, a commissioned artwork designed and painted by Noongar artist Mel Spillman titled People for Others was unveiled. This very special artwork is the culmination of a collaboration with Mel and our 2025 Year 12 Art ATAR students. During the collaboration, our art students shared their own experiences and insights into our College’s history, values and community, inspiring Mel’s creation of this beautiful work of art.

We look forward to our Year 12 Art students presenting the finished artwork to the Primary School in an upcoming assembly, after which, People for Others will hang proudly in the foyer of the Administration building for all to see.

People for Others captures the essence of what it means to be John XXIII College, as evidenced by the various intricate snapshots that feature within the final piece.

Finally, we wish our musicians well for their Music Camp over the weekend. I extend my thanks to Head of Music, James Kros, Kath Alexander, Catherine Haydon, Liz Jennings, our music tutors and other accompanying staff, including Joel Wynn and Angie Bollam. I also thank our Friends of Music and Drama (FOMAD) for their support, in particular Susanne Zerk and Julie Bosnich.
