Welcome to our second-last newsletter for Term 2. My article today will highlight an important upcoming change to our parent-teacher interview schedule, whilst later I would like to highlight more of the great community engagement we are seeing across our school.
Firstly, I would like to share some important student reporting and feedback information with you, advising you of a change to our historical parent-teacher interview schedule.
At our most recent curriculum day, our staff collaboratively analysed student learning and wellbeing data, moderated teacher judgements and began to develop student reports for Semester 1. This is a comprehensive process that supports accurate teacher judgements for all students against the Victorian Curriculum.
Student reports will be shared with families from 3:00pm next Friday 27th June.
Historically, we have followed the release of student reports with the offering of a parent-teacher interview. Due to feedback that we have received regarding learning and wellbeing feedback being more beneficial when provided better spaced across the year, we have shifted this parent-teacher interview opportunity to the end of Term 3.
This means that, alongside the Term 1 interview and the Term 4 student report, you will receive formal learning and wellbeing feedback about your child at four equally spaced intervals across the year (at the end of each term). We believe that this will give you more accurate information about your child on a more regular basis.
This, of course, does not mean that you can’t reach out to your child’s teacher at any stage. We always welcome your feedback and questions.
Last Saturday I attended our annual school student disco, and what an event it was! Organised by two of our wonderful parents, Daelle Sachs and Gabby Long, our students came dressed in the ‘black and white’ theme ready to dance, sing and have fun with their classmates. The afternoon and evening ran incredibly smoothly, due to the precise planning and the great range of volunteers who came to support the event.
This event is an absolute favourite in our community calendar and one that I look forward to the most. Thank you again to the wonderful Daelle and Gabby for their leadership of the event and to all the parent volunteers on the night. Thanks too to Stephanie Sim, who leads community engagement at our school, as well as our office team, who supported the logistics behind the event in many ways.
This event followed another successful ‘cakes for a cause’ the fortnight before, led by our Prep and Year 6 families. This event raised funds that will be split between supplementing our junior school home reading program and the new ‘gaga pit’ to be installed alongside the new senior playground. On top of other funds raised this year going towards the installation of new water fountains and the restoration of several classrooms in our traditional building (and the gymnasium project on the way!), the physical environment of our school is beginning to look great!
Thank you for your ongoing support and keep doing your best.
