Year Two Team News

with Steph, Joel and Rochelle

Hello Year Two families,

We are nearing the end of what has been a busy term for our Willy Kids. We are extremely proud of the effort our Year Two students have put in towards their schoolwork over the course of this semester. Students have earnt a well-deserved rest over the holidays and we look forward to hearing about the exciting adventures and activities they get up to over the break once we return for Term Three.

In Term Four, we will be having our Year 2 Sleepover. If your child has not experienced staying away from home yet, we ask that you consider using the holidays as an opportunity to provide this experience for your child with a close friend or family member. If you have any questions about our Year 2 Sleepover, your parent teacher interview will provide a good opportunity to ask your child's teacher about any questions you may have.

Important news for Week 11:

  • Parent-Teacher Interviews: We look forward to meeting with you next Tuesday July 1st July to celebrate your child’s learning this semester. Just a friendly reminder that students do not attend the mid-year parent teacher interviews in Grades Prep-2. If you have had any issues booking an appointment on Compass, please contact the school office and they will be able to help you arrange a time.
  • Grade 2 Sleepover: With great excitement, we can announce that a date has been set for our Year 2 Sleepover! It will take place on Thursday 6th November (Week 5 of Term 4) More information about the event will be provided early next term. If you have any questions about the night please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

Curriculum Focus: Week 11

Literacy: In Writing, we will be publishing our narratives about ‘The Egg’ and/or finishing our sequels to ‘The Highway Rat.’

Numeracy:  We will be revising a variety of mathematical concepts and completing activities on place value, addition and subtraction.

Inquiry: We will conclude our unit of work ‘What Are Things Made Of and Why?’

Willy Kids: Through the pillar of Learning, we are learning about the importance of being reflective learners and how being reflective can assist us with our learning.

Until next time,

The Grade Two Team - Steph Keswick (2K), Joel Kitchen (2J) & Rochelle White (2W)
