On Wednesday 18 June, Alicia and Justin (Year 7) alongside Ashton and Jet (Year 8) went out to Richard Johnson College, Oakhurst, to compete in the HICES Mathematics Competition. There were 3 rounds, the Group Challenge, Swiss Challenge and the Relay Challenge. Each of these rounds involved the students solving various problems, competing both as a team and as individuals against almost 30 other teams from various schools across NSW.
Their teamwork in the Group Challenge was a site to behold, as they ended that round with the highest score of the day! They continued to experience success in the later rounds and finished 5th overall. It was a fantastic day, getting to experience various levels of challenge and teamwork and the students had a blast. We look forward to competing again when it is held in 2 years time!
