Snapshots from the week

Year 9 Market Day Wrap-Up

What an incredible afternoon at Balmoral SHS as our Year 9 students brought the M Block precinct to life with their creative and interactive stalls for Market Day! From carnival-style games and competitions to epic prizes and sweet treats, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

👏 A massive congratulations to our Year 9 students for their innovation, energy and effort. Your hard work made Market Day a huge success and brought our school community together in such a fun and vibrant way.

Lunchbox Sessions

Today’s Lunchbox Session was packed with inspiration, opportunity, and a whole lot of good vibes! Students connected with special guests from UQ, University of the Sunshine Coast, Place Real Estate, and Blake Malone – an award-winning songwriter, producer and mixer – to explore future pathways and passions.

Whether it was learning about uni life, getting a glimpse into the real estate industry, or hearing what it takes to make it in the music biz, students walked away energised and informed.

🙌 A huge thanks to our incredible guests and to everyone who came along during lunch to listen, ask questions, and get involved. These sessions are all about helping our students dream big and take action!

Hospitality at Balmoral

A generous donation of fresh oranges from a local farm inspired our Year 11 Hospitality students to get creative in the kitchen this week.

The result? Oranges three ways — a zesty orange curd, a rich whole orange almond cake, and a vibrant homemade marmalade.

With skills like these, we can already imagine what they’ll do next… perhaps a baked orange marmalade ham? Delicious work, Year 11!

Ms Thederan & Ms Rowe's Year 10 Hospitality Classes take on Cultural Cuisines!

This term, our Year 10 Hospitality students explored the vibrant flavours and traditions of global cuisine. From hands-on preparation to thoughtful presentation, each dish reflected a deep dive into cultural techniques, ingredients and stories.

Whether it was rolling fresh sushi, mastering Italian dishes, or blending the perfect spices, students embraced the challenge and served up some truly impressive plates. A delicious way to celebrate diversity and skill development in the kitchen!
