Performing Arts

Years 5 & 6
The Years 5s and 6s have been creating and performing both their own and others’ plays. By working together to rehearse and refine their acting, they learn how to present their dramas to audiences. Students have been experimenting with different acting styles, changing their movements and gestures to create their characters. They added elements like sound, lighting, props and/or costumes to make their performances more engaging.
“I like that we got to act out stories and practise our skills, it was really fun.” - Sophie 6KL
“Drama is something that lets us express our imagination.” - Adrian 6KL
Years 3 & 4
Students in Years 3 and 4 have been learning to use their voices, facial expressions and movement to create and share ideas. They have been working together to practise and perform different scripts for their classes. Students have been learning how to keep an audience interested and how to express themselves clearly.
“It's been exhilarating learning about exaggeration because it makes the story clearer and more interesting.” - Piper 3K
Years 1 & 2
In Years 1 and 2 students have been exploring different ways of acting, like role-play and improvisation. They think about characters, places and feelings to create short scenes. By practising and performing for their classmates, students gain the confidence and learn to speak clearly, use their bodies to show meaning, and make eye contact with their audience.
“I liked how I was able to run and be creative in my drama.” - Edith 2SL
Foundation
The Foundation students have been exploring different ways to express emotions and ideas. They have been using their bodies and faces to create different characters. Sharing their acting with each other, students have taken turns presenting, listening and supporting each other to present in a safe and friendly environment.
