Principal's Report

Dear BEPS Community,
As we reach the end of Term 2 we take great pride in celebrating a term filled with creativity, achievement and community spirit. From classroom success to sporting milestones and student-led initiatives, BEPS continues to be a place where students enjoy coming to school.
This term, our whole-school inquiry theme "I Am Creative" has encouraged students to learn, create and inspire. Across classrooms we’ve seen students express their ideas through writing, problem solving, design projects, dramatic performance and collaborative learning. As I move through the school it is always a joy to watch students stretch their imaginations and share their thinking in different ways.
A huge congratulations to our Girls Soccer Team, who were Runners Up in the local Monash Division, and have now qualified for District level. We are very proud of their determination, sportsmanship and teamwork.
Our talented Year 6 students have written the script for this year’s school production, titled: “The Legend of THE BEPS (Best) Chicken”. This original and hilarious script highlights BEPS's values, environmental themes and student voice. Casting will take place in Week 11, with rehearsals beginning in Term 3. We ask all families to join us at Crossway on October 14th to witness the feathers, fun and legend come to life! Our production is a day event with students coming to school in the morning, travelling to the venue by bus, and then returning to school for a 3.30pm finish.
This term some of Year 4 and 5 students have begun participating in the Maths Olympiad, an exciting new initiative at BEPS that challenges students to think laterally and creatively, developing their problem-solving skills and mathematical thinking.
We are also thrilled to celebrate an outstanding national achievement: Selena (Year 2) was recently announced as the National Winner in the World Maths Day Competition. She competed against thousands of students across the world and placed first in her year level across Australia. Mimi, a representative from Mathletics, joined us at our assembly this week to present Selena with her trophy in front of the school community.
Semester 1 student reports have been finalised and will be available to families via Compass on the last day of term. Our staff have worked hard to assess each student’s learning journey against the Victorian Curriculum standards.
We encourage families to take the time to sit down together and celebrate your child’s growth and achievements. Many students have contributed personal reflections, and their insights are often both meaningful and inspiring.
Reminders
Our final day of Term 2 is Friday July 4th, and students will be dismissed at the earlier time of 2:30pm. We invite all families to attend our end-of-term celebration assembly, where we will acknowledge our PLA Award winners.
During the holidays our Foundation playground will receive an exciting upgrade with the tanbark being replaced with rubber Softfall, improving accessibility and safety for our Foundation learners.
Thank you to our students, families and staff for another rich and rewarding term. We are grateful for the continued partnership and support that make BEPS such a special place to learn and grow.
We wish everyone a safe and restful break and we look forward to seeing you all in Term 3.
Yours in Partnership,
Darren
